kathryn was able to bring the class pet, rex home.  we took him to see nanny mcphee returns in the theatre.

{september 2010: labor day weekend}

we went to the annual balloon festival with the lamb's.

dave turned 32...what a hottie

 

our biggest news of july was dave getting a new job...in utah.

it all started in march...dave was unhappy with the direction things were going at the mda and was getting ready to graduate with his masters degree.  dave was also having "feelings" that we needed to move closer to family.  what!?  i thought we would stay in colorado springs the rest of our lives.  i wasn't thrilled about the idea but the thought of a new/different house excited me.  we had put so much money and sweat into our house and i was tired of it.  there was still so much to do and we were burned out.  dave put his resume out there and had several interviews.  just when it looked like he wasn't getting anywhere something else would pop up.  there were several jobs in denver, a couple in utah, a couple in colorado springs and a ton on the east and west coasts.  it looked like if dave was going to change jobs that a major move was ahead of us.  one thing we learned throughout the process is it's all about who you know.  good connections are vital to getting a good job.

in june dave was contacted by gtri.  gtri is based in denver but the job was in salt lake.  dave interviewed with them in denver and again while we were in salt lake.  on july 22nd he drove to denver to "meet" with some people and came home with a job offer.  reality hit and i cried for days...no joke.  it was official, we were moving and i didn't want to.  dave would start his job in august, work back and forth between denver and salt lake.  the kids and i would stay in colorado until the house sold.  i was 20-something weeks pregnant, loved my friends and ward (still wanted a new house) and was not ready to leave.

{july 2010: Ultrasound}

upon returning from our trip to utah i had a 20 week ultrasound of the baby.  the kids were so excited to join us and see their new sibling.

when i was pregnant with kathryn and reese we chose not to find out what we were having.  i loved it!  waiting months, wondering, imagining.  the moment they are born hearing if it is a boy or girl is an awesome thing.  we got a lot of flack from people about our choice.  i never understood it...it's my baby.  their explanation was always, "how will i know what to buy you?"  seriously?  i'm the one having the baby and bringing it home...i'm not concerned about what to purchase, why should you be?

this time around we decided to find out if our little peanut was a boy or a girl.  we already had one of each, i knew kathryn and reese would love to know, dave wanted to know.  it didn't matter to me.  who knew that this decision would end up being so helpful in the months to come.

on july 21st we found out we were having a GIRL!  (i thought it was a girl...i'm 3-0, dave is 0-3.)

to say that kathryn was thrilled is a major understatement!  i had to explain to her that we didn't need bunk beds quite yet...and by the time her sister would be old enough to sleep in a big bed kathryn won't want to share a room with her.

reese was excited, but he would have been no matter what.

the baby moved around a lot and we got some great pictures.  the profile looks just like kathryn's in her ultrasound.  our girls have a very distinct nose that we call a who-nose.  so cute and button-like.

while in utah we went to wheeler farm with grandma packer, aunt becca, stacey, mandy and all the kids!

the next day we went to hatch family chocolates for some yummy treats.  stephen is my mom's cousin (his dad is my grandma's brother) but he is closer in age to me than my mom.  growing up we saw them at family christmas parties,  family reunions, mission farewells (there were a lot of those) and weddings.  we love uncle jerry and his family!

reese loved meeting stephen since he had seen him on tv.  in this picture reese looked goofy:

{july 2010: roasting marshamllows at omie's}

my grandma (omie) has an awesome wooded lot.  cottonwood creek runs through her acre.  i always loved sleeping over when i was little.  the smell of the trees and creek on a summer night is a smell that will stay with me forever.  there was never a need for air conditioning due to the massive trees so we slept with the windows open.  the creek!  oh the sounds of the creek along with the smell.  a perfect part of my childhood that i will always treasure.

grandma has a fire pit in her yard...the best place to roast marshmallows!  grandma and grandpa packer and the matheson's joined us.

{july 2010: independence day celebrations}

the kids and i drove to utah on july 2nd...20 weeks pregnant...alone with 2 kids...made it in 9 1/2 hours!  i was impressed with myself.

we celebrated to holiday by attending the murray city 5k and parade, lunch at hires (love it!) and a picnic at murray park followed by fireworks.  it was a fun day!
